DIRECTOR’S NOTES

 

Concert Choirs--February 27th

 

Buses should arrive at the front entrance of the North High School Auditorium.

 

Greeters will meet the buses and will accompany you to your homeroom.

 

Homerooms must be vacated immediately following the Competition.  Hosts for the Show Choir competition  need access to the rooms to prepare them for “The BIG DANCE”.

 

 

Show Choirs— February 28th

 

 

Buses should arrive at the front entrance of North High School.  Traffic Directors will provide Complimentary Admission tickets for 2 chaperones per bus as well as your bus drivers.

 

Greeters will meet the buses and will provide Admission Tags for the Show Choir, instrumentalists, crew, and Directors.  You will be introduced to your hosts who will accompany you to the equipment storage area and to your homeroom.  Your hosts will administer to any needs you have throughout the day.

 

Equipment can be unloaded at the front entrance or on the east side of the school, and can be stored in your home room or in a storage area adjacent to the performance center.  Your hosts will show you where this storage space is located.

 

Buses will park a few blocks away at Northpark Mall.  Shuttles for bus drivers will be available throughout the day and evening.  We will have signs and parking attendants to assist.

 

Our stage is 40' Wide and 36' Deep.  On both sides of the stage, we will have wings 16' wide and  8' tall.  These wings will provide an area to change costumes and provide an alternative to bringing your own changing facilities--this may help your efforts to stay within the 25 Minute Time constraint.  

 

"House" performance platforms available are 4--4'x8'x8"; 4--4'x8'x16"; 4--4'x8'x24";

4--4'x8'x32".  Our stage crew will arrange the platforms as identified on the set-up sheets in the RETURN INFO section of this booklet and as directed by the Director/Show Choir Captain during our stage crew's set-up.

 

We will, if you desire, have DRY ICE delivered to North High School and stored for your use.  The cost is $1.00 per pound.  You must fill out the order form in the RETURN INFO section of this booklet and provide payment with the order.  We will not order dry ice without prior payment.

 

We can make some instruments available to you, if we know what you'd like us to provide.  Timpani, bass drums, etc.  This will preclude you from having to transport them.  Again, let us know your needs via the forms in the RETURN INFO section of this booklet.

 

We are going to make every effort to stay ON SCHEDULE throughout the day's proceedings.  If there's ANYTHING we can do to help you get on and off stage and keep you within the time limit, please ask your hosts, one of the stage crew, one of the North Directors or Bart Hall.

 

This is the 8h Show Choir Invitational held at Davenport North.  We've made every effort to improve each and every year, but there's always more we should be doing to support your day.  PLEASE, LET US KNOW IF THERE'S ANYTHING WE CAN DO TO MAKE YOUR DAY A LITTLE LESS STRESSFUL.  We want you, your Show Choir, and your fans to enjoy your experience at "The BIG DANCE".
