Vocal
Boosters Meeting February 4th, 2003
Meeting
called to order at 7:02 p.m. with 30 in attendance.
Minutes
from the January meeting were approved.
Treasurer
Report was given: Note:
not all of the fundraiser earnings are posted yet.
Boosters will be short approx. $3000 in paying the outstanding bills
received to date. There are 64
students that are over the $100 mark from assessments due from previous years.
The Boosters are in need of at least $10,000 from the assessment fees
just to break even this year. Treasurer’s
report was approved.
Director’s
report: Riewerts reported that
Northside was 3rd runner up at the Linn Mar competition and this
weekend will be the Cedar Rapids Kennedy workshop with a performance given at
6:30. There is also an issue with
the students concerning the BC Dance that is being held the same night as this
performance in Cedar Rapids. He
also noted that Northside performed at Wood Intermediate today and that
auditions for concert choirs were held at Wood.
Schloemer informed the
boosters that State Contest went well for Elegance and Center Stage. The Mixed and Varsity choirs are working very hard on
learning literacy and that it was going very well.
Monday night practices will be held this week and then they will end.
Buses:
The Urbandale parent bus will be going as there are 46 signed up now and
the bus will hold 52. The students will need to be at the school at 5:45 a.m. and
the bus will leave at 6:30 a.m. for Urbandale.
The same time schedule will apply for the Cedar Rapids Kennedy student
bus. The parent bus for Totino
Grace has been cancelled as only 8 parents signed up to ride.
If any parent is needing hotel reservations for Totino Grace contact Dan
Virtue for information.
Fund
Raising: More ads for the Big Dance
are needed for the program if students can get them turned in to Jim Metz by
February 14th. There has
been approx. $4200 received from Ads with $1860 going toward student
assessments.
John
O’Donnell concession dates have been selected and there will be 4 students and
4 adults needed to sign up for each date with each receiving 1/12 of the take in
for the night. Note: the money is
not received from the Stadium until after the end of August.
The sign up sheet is out on the website.
Money
is still due in on the candy bar sales.
There
are 30 Entertainment books left for sale at $15 each with the student receiving
$10 for each book sold towards their assessment fee.
A
short Newsletter will be done prior to The Big Dance.
Costume
Committee: A big “Thank you” from Ryan and Colleen to all of the
committee with a special “Thank you” to Diane Dipple for all the help.
Publicity:
A press release was sent to the paper for The Big Dance by Gail.
She also noted that she has a few short sleeve booster shirts for sale at
$25 each.
Wisconsin
Singers will be coming April 4th, 2003. The boosters still need to form a committee ASAP for the
promotion of this event. The
committee will be planning on meeting within 2 weeks to organize ticket sales.
Other
business: Riewerts suggested
organizing a Summer Camp for the students to keep the kids together and to
promote the team work spirit. Schloemer
informed the boosters that there may be a re-assessment of fees for Elegance and
Center Stage and that there is a $75 fee for Crew members, if the student is not
already participating in another vocal choir.
The fee for Pit members has
not been determined yet.
Next
meeting March 4th, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.
Meeting
adjourned at 8:15 p.m.
Respectfully
submitted,
Dotty
