Vocal Boosters Meeting January 7th, 2003

Meeting called to order at 7:09 p.m. with 25 in attendance.

Minutes from the December meeting were approved.

Treasurer Report was given:  Received invoices for costumes and buses.  Approximately $27,357 is still owed in assessment fees for this year with approximately $8000 from last year’s assessment fees that are past due.  Choreography fees will be the next large expense coming due.  Treasurer’s report was approved.

Director’s report:  Schloemer informed the boosters that the Pit rehearsals are going well.  She thanked parents for helping with the costuming.  She stressed the importance of the need for rehearsal time on the risers in the green room behind the auditorium, which is currently occupied by ROTC.  She noted that this has been an ongoing problem for the vocal department and that this room was intended to be a multi-purpose room to be used by all departments not just for ROTC.  Schloemer requested support from the boosters in helping to resolve this issue.

Buses have been scheduled and paid for the first two show choir trips.  We will need at least 30 parents to sign up in order to schedule a parent bus to Urbandale.  Parent bus letter is out on the website and students should also be bringing them home to parents.

Show Choir pictures will be done at the Linn Mar competition.

Fund Raising:  Candy bar sales will continue for 2 more weeks.  Pizza Hut coupons will be offered a few more dates.  No report from Pizza Hut yet on the dollar amount we will be receiving.  Krispy Kreme partnership card money will be due next week.  The committee will need to call John O’Donnell concession stand for next year’s dates, if there is still interest in doing this fund raiser next year.  It was also noted that we may not receive the contract for the students to help with the Optimus Club Basketball Tournament next year as there were 34 shifts not covered by show choir students as they didn’t show up for their scheduled time.

There will be a short Newsletter done prior to The Big Dance.

No report from the Costume Committee as they are all busy sewing!

Silent Auction final results were reported correctly as of the last meeting.

Wisconsin Singers will be coming April 4th, 2003.  The boosters need to form a committee ASAP for the promotion of this event.  The booster club will be planning on selling tickets for the event at The Big Dance.

Other business:  Booster shirts will be picked up tomorrow and Gail will be delivering them.  A reminder to the parents to sign up to work at The Big Dance to earn $50 off their student’s assessment fees.  Student’s will be required to work also.   The next Big Dance meeting will be January 14th, 2003.  The next booster’s meeting will be held February 4th, 2003 at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting adjourned at 8:06 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Dotty Bainbridge, Secretary
