Vocal Boosters Meeting January 6th, 2004
Meeting called to order at 7:00 p.m. There were approximately 27 people in attendance.
Minutes from the December 9th meeting were approved.
Treasurer Report was given: Check book balance is approximately $3,400 as of 1-6-04. There is approximately $11,000 in bills left to pay and there is over $15,000 in outstanding assessment fees due. Letters will be sent out to all students owing over $50. If these assessment fees are not received by mid February, the competition to Totino Grace will be cancelled for Northside and one competition for Center Stage will be cancelled. Discussion was held concerning establishing a scholarship fund and committee in order to help qualified students. Discussion was also held concerning taking disciplinary actions towards students who do not participate for their own benefit in the fundraisers in order to help with their assessment fees. Examples of the disciplinary actions were given such as sitting out a competition, which would be the same action taken if the student were receiving unsatisfactory grades. Treasurer’s report was approved.
A motion was then made to have the students be required to have 75% of their assessment fees that are due by the end of the 1st quarter (October) paid or earned by fundraising or the student will be dropped from the program in October. Motion was seconded and passed.
A scholarship committee was then formed with Diane Monty as chairperson and Blick, Vogel, Mullen and the Pauline’s as volunteers to help.
Director’s report: Schloemer reported that the concert choirs will be doing voice testing soon and that the students will need to be deciding if they want to participate in the small group contest soon. Students who decide to participate in small group will be practicing after school and will need to learn their music by March 1st as the contest is in April at West High School. Parents are welcome to come listen during “hell week” for Northside and Center Stage. Center Stage “hell week” will be the last week in January from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday with the parent performance on Friday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. in the Auditorium.
Riewerts reported that the block scheduling issue is being discussed with administration and everyone is working on trying to resolve the issues. Northside is working on cleaning up their program and they are working with the choreographer in cutting two minutes from the performance yet. Warm-up suits are at the embroiderer’s and will be delivered soon.
