Vocal Boosters Meeting March 11th, 2003

 

Meeting called to order at 7:50 p.m. with 25 in attendance.

 

Minutes from the February meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer Report was given:  All of the bills received to date have been paid.  Treasurer’s report was approved.  J. Hoeller gave a preliminary report on the proceeds from the Big Dance.  There was approximately $53,700 in revenue and approximately $31,700 to date for expenses.

 

Director’s report:  Riewerts noted that Saturday’s performance at Cedar Rapids Jefferson for Center Stage will be at 9:30 and Northside will be at 4:30 with the bus arriving back to the school around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.  The students are currently receiving music for the large group contest to be held May 10th, 2003.  The entire Fine Arts department is holding a 3 day event, April 10th-12th, set in the Vietnam era called “A Piece of My Heart”.   April 10th will be a benefit for Vets.  Approximately 218 students tried out this year for show choirs and the directors will be posting the list for next year’s show choir members in a few weeks.  There will be another fundraiser for Northside students through Avon.  He also noted that student assessment fees will need to be paid down to $100 before summer camp or the student will not be allowed to participate next year.

 

Collection of assessments:  There is approximately $19,000 remaining that is still due.  Billings will be going out soon and followed up by phone calls again.

 

Buses:  Tri-State credited the boosters for the Urbandale trip that was postponed due to weather and re-scheduled.

 

Photography:  New pictures of the show choirs will soon be out on the website.

 

Concert Uniforms:  It was noted that concert uniform fees are still owing and need to be collected.

 

Fund Raising:  John O’Donnell concession dates have been posted and the sign up sheet is out on the website.

There are more candy bars left to sell, if anyone is interested.

There are a few Entertainment books left to sell at $15 each with the student receiving $10 for each book sold towards their assessment fee.

Avon fundraiser will be available at the performance tomorrow night.

 

Publicity:  Riewerts noted the need for help in constructing a Fine Arts collage for the 3 day event coming up in April and the need for publicity for this event.

 

Wisconsin Singers have been cancelled because of a conflict with scheduling.

 

Other business:  There is a need for discussion after this meeting with the costume committee to establish a price for the old outfits.  A few more fundraising ideas were discussed.

 

Next meeting will be April 8th, 2003.
