Vocal Boosters Meeting May 6th, 2002

 

Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m. with 24 in attendance.

 

Minutes from April meeting approved as read.

 

Treasurer report given.  Noted “past due notices” are being sent out after approval and many bills have been received and are unpaid at this time because of the shortage of cash.  Discussion was held on the unplanned expense of the Mundelein trip when assessment fees were determined, the need to curtail spending, and some phone calls will be made to collect on overdue assessment fees. Of note: Show Choir Show Off brought in $3800.

 

Spring Concert will be held May 20th at 7:30 p.m. in the Auditorium.  Costumes will be turned in that night and directors will remind the kids to bring a change of clothes and how the procedure will be handled this year.  Extra help will be needed and volunteers were Hoeller and Virtue.

 

Musical will be held May 16th , 17th, & 18th.   Noted:   Help is needed in the concessions and it was suggested that calling the parents of the cast members for getting some volunteers to help.  Volunteers should be there by 6:45 p.m.  Donations of 2 liters of pop or baked goods are needed and publicity posters will be out by mid-week.   R. Riewerts noted the need for help in construction of the Musical set. 

 

Fund Raising was discussed.  Noted:  Baseball game nights for working the concessions were given as June 7th & 8th, July 12th & 13th, Aug. 16th, 17th, & 31st., and Sept. 1st.  Need 8 adults and at least 4 students working and will earn $150 per night.  Contact Gale Doxsie or Sharon Virtue for sign up.  Discussion was held on when & where to have the Summer Bake Sale and Car Wash.

 

Committee reports:  Discussion was held on the different types of committees whether they are still appropriate committees and whether there is a need for new committees to be formed.  Suggestions were made to have a Construction committee and a Picture Committee.  D. Thurston volunteered to chair the Picture committee and  D. Jorth volunteered to chair the Alumni committee.  The Ice Cream Social will be held Aug. 18th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with B. Metz as committee chair.  Show Choir camp dates will be Aug. 4th, thru 6th All State, and Aug. 13th thru 17th  Show Choir.  Discussion was held about holding the Show Choir Clinic in the fall instead of the Spring next year.  Discussion was held concerning the costume turn-in and the system for handling the distribution and selling prices of the costumes for next year.

 

Show Choir Kickoff will be held June 3rd, 2002 in the Auditorium at 7:00 p.m.  The names of the new students are being entered.  It was suggested that order forms for T-shirts/shoe, etc. be passed out at the kickoff and that a viewing of the Branson performance be shown.

 

Dates for next year’s meetings:  It was suggested the next year’s booster meetings be held on the 1st Tuesday of every month to avoid the conflict of the Monday night practices for the Directors. 

 

Thank you:  D. Virtue thanked the outgoing board members for their hard work and dedication this year.

 

Other issues:  Noted:  May 28th will be the Music Awards Banquet and the students will need to turn in their point sheet by May 10th.   Help is needed to tally up points.  Discussion was held about having a potluck supper or just desserts.

 

Next meeting will be Monday, June 3rd, 2002 at 7:00 p.m.

 

Motion passed to adjourned the meeting at 8:28 p.m.
