Vocal
Boosters Meeting November 5th, 2002
Meeting
called to order at 7:01 p.m. with 22 in attendance.
Discussion
concerning the Silent Auction was held. Help
is needed for set-up, clean-up and bagging items.
Volunteers are needed to be at the school at 4:00, doors open at 6:00 and
the musical starts at 7:00.
Riewerts
informed the boosters of the opportunity to bring in the Wisconsin Colligate
Singers Show Choir for a performance at the North High Auditorium.
The cost of the event would be approximately $4500 and the boosters would
need to coordinate the advertising and selling of the tickets with other area
schools along with his help. Some
booster members expressed their concern in gaining enough interest in the event
to insure a profit. Discussion was
held for ideas of advertising/promoting this event and the cost of the tickets.
Minutes
from the October meeting were approved.
Treasurer
Report was given: We will be paying
approximately $14,000 for buses this year and the Entertainment Book fund raiser
bill is due of approximately $6,000. Currently,
we have not received any invoices for this year’s costumes or shoes.
Treasurer’s report was approved.
Discussion
was held again regarding the collection of assessment fees.
Acapella will not be going to Onalaska this year, as it would be an
overnight stay that was not budgeted. Therefore,
Northside Establishment will be the only group attending the Onalaska
competition. Depending on the collection of assessment fees, Center Stage
and Elegance may not be attending the Linn Mar competition.
It was suggested for next year to issue statements to the students that
if assessment fees are not close to being paid off, then the student will not be
allowed to participate in show choir the following year.
Sponsorship and mentoring for the more needy students were discussed. The committee will continue calling parents to get assessment
fees caught up. Assessment payments
for chorus students will be checked into.
Information
was handed out regarding holding a Trivia night at the school.
Other suggestions were made such as holding a pancake breakfast,
spaghetti supper, or a talent show resembling the
“People’s Choice Awards”.
It
was noted that Northpark Mall was approved for parking 50 buses during the Big
Dance. Total bus cost is estimated
at $17,415 this year. Pre-sign up
(3 weeks prior to competition) is needed for parent buses this year as the
boosters lost money on parent buses last year.
Photography:
It was noted the D. Thurston will be taking show choir pictures for the
program this year.
Fundraisers:
Optimus Club youth basketball sign up sheets will be out soon for
students to earn $5 an hour for keeping scores and time.
Candle orders will be due Nov. 15th, 2002.
Need volunteers to help sort pizza/cookie dough orders.

The

Music booster’s shirt.
Next
