Vocal Boosters Meeting October 4th, 2004
Meeting called to order at 8:09 p.m., 22 people in attendance.
Minutes from the September 7th, 2004 meeting were approved.
Treasurers Report: Checkbook looks well on available cash due to Swing fund raiser. October 15th is the cut off for students to have paid 75% of their assessment. A listing will be posted in the choir room of assessments paid by each student. The Boosters will decide what action to take at the next meeting if there is a large percent of students that have not met the 75% mark. Need to check with Ryan to see if he has the form used last year to apply for the scholarship fund. (The student explains in writing why the scholarship money should go to them).
Director’s report:
Mr. Riewerts stated the choirs are motivated and it is a busy time of year. There are three more rehearsals before Metro Fest. Students will leave at 1:00 to practice at Metro Fest (Concert starts at 7:30 pm). Choreographer Marty Dumont will be practicing with Center Stage on Friday and with Northside on Saturday (7 hours rehearsal). Four of the five arrangements are complete and the kids should have memorized by the middle of November. Planning for the Spring break trip to New York, March 31-April 2 through Fame organization (looking at fees) is in process. A special meeting will be held early November to discuss the New York trip. The bus cost came in a little higher than expected so the Northside students are selling candy bars to defray some of the bus cost. Conferences are scheduled for Thursday and Friday 5-7pm. Mrs. Schloemer will not be at the conferences but she will have a sign in sheet if you need to meet with her at a later date. Center Stage arrangement is complete. Colleen talked about a new initiative called an “Advisory Period”, somewhat like a homeroom. The advisory period hopes to assist student in transition from Junior High to High School and then to College. The advisory period will look at such things as college bound, career strategies, COOP’s, and job shadowing. The teachers assist small groups of students throughout the students 4 years of high school. There are various committees and parent involvement is encouraged.
