Vocal Boosters Meeting September 30th, 2003

  

Meeting called to order at 8:00 p.m.

 

Minutes from the September 2nd meeting were approved.

 

Treasurer Report was given:  Check book balance is approximately $18,000.  There will be a large bill due for the purchase of this year’s costumes soon.  Treasurer’s report was approved.

 

Director’s report:  Riewerts reported that Metro Fest will be held Oct. 14th at Bettendorf High.  The students will be leaving the school at 1:00 and dinner will be provided for the students at a minimal cost.  The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.

                              Schloemer reported that Opus tapes have been sent in for review.  The students are in the process of being sized for their concert choir outfits and these fees are due Oct. 6th before the students will be issued their outfit.

 

Committees:

Fund Raising:  Tupperware fundraiser will begin tonight.  The students will receive 50% of their sales to apply towards their assessment fees.  Sales tax does apply to this fundraiser and the money should be turned in by Oct. 21st,  2003.  Any candle orders are due in tonight.  There is a new fundraiser screen on the website for students and parents to check out.  There is a 50/50 raffle being held every Monday night at practice.  Please remember to get your Silent Auction donations turned in ASAP, deadline is 10/31/03.

Newsletter:   Diane Monty has just sent out the newsletter.  If anyone has not received one and would like to, please contact one of the board members.

Costumes:   Northside and Center Stage students are being fitted for their new costumes.  Dresses are to be fitted for the girls in Acapella on Monday night and Carol Hoeller asked for volunteers to help with the hemming.

Pictures:  Dan Thurston has been taking pictures of the students in order to create a new directory that will become a new booster fundraiser for sale soon.  Thank you Dan!

 

Discussion was held concerning the fee for the trip to Disney World and regular assessment fees.  November 20th, 2003 is the last day that anyone can receive 100% refund for the Disney World trip if they are unable to attend.  Students planning on attending the Disney World trip will be required to have ¾ of their regular assessment fees paid that have become due by the November 20th, 2003 date in order to attend the trip. 

 

Other business:  Reminder from Schloemer of the upcoming parent/teacher conferences.  Corrections to the 2004 Invitational Schedule dates are as follows:

                6/16/04 should be 1/16/04 for NS performance @ 7:00 in Auditorium

                2/7/04 will be the BC Dance

                2/14/04 Urbandale, IA (NS & CS)

                2/21/04 Great River (NS & CS)

                3/20/04 Florida trip (only Acapella  & Varsity choirs, Band and Orchestra)
