North Voices - Summer 2003

DIRECTOR’S NOTES 

Hello Everyone! It has been a busy summer and we will have a lot happening in the next two months! All State Camp was held at North this past week and was a huge success.  We had 110 students from 5 different schools (with 26 of North’s finest) for 2 1/2 days of intense learning and singing to begin the grueling yet rewarding All State process.  We had a great group of current and former students and parents who helped make this possible.  Thanks to everyone who helped.

All State Rehearsals will begin the 2nd week of school—after  school at 3 PM and before school if needed.

Show Choir Camp—(schedule is on back) The first week of camp will be held at the Holiday Inn, 53rd & Brady except for Northside on Wednesday the 13th from 1:30-6:00 will be at North High School.  Center Stage will be in the Ballroom Aug. 12-15 and Northside will be in Ballroom Wed. Morning and Evening and in Rooms B-C for Aug 14-16.  Don’t forget the Ice Cream Social at North Cafeteria on Sunday, Aug. 17 at 5:00 with performances by Northside and Center Stage to follow in the small gym at about 6:15 or 6:30.

Florida Trip The band, orchestra and choir are heading for Florida next spring to perform at Disneyworld, March 20-25th. Cost will be $575 and includes transportation, lodging, 3 days in Disney parks, one day at Universal Studios, 7 meals (3 breakfasts and 4 meal coupons to use in the parks).  There is a required meeting Sept. 30th and plan on making your $100 deposit by that date.  Student account balances can be used for that deposit.

School Board—Booster member Dan Thurston, is running for the School Board against two other people.  We need your help to get the word out!  We need volunteers to make calls and get donations to help get Dan elected.  Check our website for further information.

Room Renovations  The Choir Room is being remodeled now so we will need help for cleanup before we can move back in.  Again check the website for more info.!

Annie Auditions for the All-School musical “Annie” will be held September 9th from 3-5 PM for singing and reading and 7-9PM for dance. Callbacks will be Sept. 10th.  Please take off work if you are planning to audition.  You must have memorized a monologue from a musical and 23-26 bars of a Broadway song.  (Not “My Country Tis of Thee” or anything from “Annie”)

Mrs. Schloemer, Ms. Brennan and Mr. Riewerts will be there to assist.

 DAS BARBECU

Once again Ghostlight Theatre, Inc. is presenting a musical in the Auditorium,  “Das Barbecu”.  North students, Melissa Burke, Brian Curlott, Laura Hoeller and alumnus, Val Nissen (assistant to the director) are in it and you can help them make money! Talk to them about how you can pad their pockets! There are still some Tech. Positions that may need to be filled.
