Vocal Boosters Meeting September 3rd, 2002
Meeting called to order at 7:03 p.m. with 35 in attendance.
Minutes from the May meeting were approved.
Treasurer report given: It was noted that the Vocal Boosters owe the Davenport School District $5700 for last year’s tux expense and will be paid when a reserve has been built up from assessment fees. Camp expenses from August have been paid. Discussion was held on past due assessment fees from a few of last year’s students. Treasurer’s report was approved.
It was noted that the Ice Cream Social went well and the Booster’s collected $202 from donations.
Directors Report: C. Schloemer reported that Opus and All State Auditions and rehearsals are in progress. Times are posted in the music room. A CD burner will be donated by B. Webster creation of CD’s of the auditions. This year’s Mixed Chorus has approximately 75 students and Varsity has approximately 50 students. North High has been selected to be a test pilot school for teaching vocal music students better music literacy. Ms. Schloemer noted the need for help in costuming for Center Stage and Elegance this year. Rehearsals will begin Monday, September 9th, 2002 with Elegance from 5:00 to 7:00, Center Stage from 7:15 to 9:30 and Northside from 6:00 to 9:30.
The 2002/2003 schedule was handed out and the following additions need to be made:

The newsletter will be out in a few weeks and will include these new dates.
Big Dance: B. Hall was present to update the Boosters about which schools have made commitments to attend this year’s Big Dance. D. Virtue and D. Monty will be co-chairing with Bart this year. First Big Dance meeting will be held within the next few weeks.
Booster Committees: Signup sheets were passed around for booster members to sign up for committees. Chair people are needed for the following committees: Concessions, Construction, Costume/Sewing, Show Choir Clinic, and Publicity. The Silent Auction will be held the night of the Musical this year and the Follies will be held in the spring.
Fundraising: S. Virtue and G. Doxsie presented many ideas for fundraising this year. The current fundraiser is selling the Entertainment Books. Some of the ideas for fundraising are: Yankee Candles, Home Interior candles, Cherish Promotions, Krispy Kremes, Pizza & Cookie Dough, Trivia Night, cleaning Brady St. Stadium, and Concessions at the Mark.
It was noted that we need a volunteer to chair the concessions committee for the upcoming 1776 Musical performance.
Other business: C. Schloemer noted the expense for the purchase of music and what the school budgets for this expense is not enough to cover the cost. There will be a shirt order forms in the newsletter for booster parents who wish to purchase the music booster shirts this year.
A reminder that 1st assessments are due Sept. 16th and the next booster’s meeting will be held Oct. 1, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. in the music room
